Napa, CA (Sports Network) - Oakland Raiders rookie offensive lineman Robert Gallery went down with a hyperextended right elbow in Monday's training camp practice.
Gallery, who was the second overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, suffered a sprained elbow during a blocking drill. Gallery then yelled in pain and was aided by team trainer Rod Martin. X-rays taken at a nearby hospital were negative.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Iowa product was working with the second team but is expected to start at left tackle this season. He worked with the first unit in Saturday's 33-30 preseason victory over San Francisco, but didn't start.
Gallery was the only returnee on the Hawkeyes' 2003 offensive line that paved the way for running back Fred Russell to rush for 1,205 yards and six touchdowns.
He won the Outland Trophy last season as the nation's top interior lineman. The last Iowa player to capture the honor was Alex Karras in 1957.
