Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco 49ers have signed All-Pro linebacker Julian Peterson to a one-year contract.

The deal ends a 28-day holdout by Peterson, who was designated by the team in February as its franchise player.

Peterson signed a contract worth about $6 million tendered by the team to play this season. He is expected to begin practicing on Sunday.

Peterson was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl and earned first-team All-Pro honors last season when he led San Francisco with seven sacks. He had 144 tackles and three forced fumbles during the 2003 season.
