Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Nebraska quarterback Jordan Adams will have surgery in the coming weeks to have his spleen removed, sidelining him for at least a month.
Adams' spleen ruptured earlier this summer after a bout with mononucleosis.
The junior college transfer was expected to compete for the starting job with sophomore Joe Dailey, who likely will be under center when the Cornhuskers begin their season on September 4 against Western Illinois.
