Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions and rookie wide receiver Roy Williams came to terms on a five-year contract Sunday. Per team policy, monetary figures were not released.
Williams was the No. 7 overall pick in the draft out of the University of Texas. In 40 games as a Longhorn, Williams set school records with 241 career receptions for 3,866 yards and 36 touchdowns. He finished his career ranked second all-time among Big XII Conference receivers in receptions, yards and touchdowns. He also concluded his collegiate career with a UT record 17 100- yard games.
Williams missed only one day of training camp due to the deal not being done. As a result of the signing, the Lions have their entire player roster under contract and participating in practices.
