( - With Pro Bowl middle linebacker Zach Thomas expected to miss at least the first two weeks of training camp with a knee injury, Morlon Greenwood has moved from his outside linebacker position into the middle. For Greenwood, the temporary move can only help make him a more complete player.

"I'm making a lot more tackles in the middle and getting to the ball a lot more than when I play on the outside," Greenwood said. "The way our defense is set up, the weak-side and strong-side linebackers take on the backs and most of the blockers freeing up the middle-backer to ball hunt. I feel comfortable playing the middle right now. It's always good to learn another position because you never know when a scenario might come up that you will have to make adjustments and switch positions."

T Damion McIntosh (ankle), LB Zach Thomas (knee) and S Shawn Wooden (low back) did not practice and are on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List. CB Patrick Surtain (groin), DE Aaron Hunt (ankle) and CB Sam Madison (hamstring) did not practice Monday. WR Snoop Minnis (ribs) and G Eric Wilson (knee) did not practice in the Monday afternoon session.

The team conducted a two-hour practice on Monday morning in shorts and shoulder pads.

The Dolphins moved practice time up to 2:45 p.m. Monday afternoon in an effort to practice before an anticipated rain storm.

DT Tim Bowens did not participate in afternoon drills.

S Quintin Williams changed his jersey number to No. 38. He previously wore No. 8.

The Dolphins currently have 90 players under contract. 83 players practiced Monday afternoon.

The winning raffle number from the morning session for a Rob Konrad autographed football is 2176292 (claimed).

The winning raffle number for the winner of a David Boston football on Monday, August 2nd evening session 6166702 (claimed).

Head Coach Dave Wannstedt (on the weather affecting practice) - We made a last minute decision to go out early and it worked out well. We got a lot of ball-handling and two-minute drill stuff done that we wanted to get done. It wasnt the best of circumstances weather wise, but we were at least able to practice today. The weather doesnt really affect the linemen, but it bothers the receivers because they cant go full-speed and it bothers the quarterbacks because they cant get a feel for the ball. But we got a great practice in this morning and we are making progress. Well be fine.

Head Coach Dave Wannstedt (On Danny Goodspeed) Hes doing a nice job. Hes been around a little bit, been to a few camps, been to a couple teams, and hes doing well. Rex Hadnot, Ill tell you, hes the rookie that we drafted and he has probably made the quickest impression on any of the new guys. He has some real ability where Im going to see how he progresses.

Head Coach Dave Wannstedt (on the running backs) Nothing new there. Leonard Henry actually had a nice afternoon. Sammy Morris made plays and Travis (Minor) is doing a nice job. They are the three guys right now taking all the reps and well see.

FB Rob Konrad (on potentially getting more carries this season) "We dont have any other big-bodied fullbacks in camp right now so Im pretty set to carry the load at fullback. I may be used more in one-back sets to carry the ball, or maybe in short yardage, but I dont anticipate seeing any time at halfback right now. We have some quick guys there already. Today in practice Travis (Minor) popped through three plays in a row for 10, 15 yard gains against our defense, which is tough to do. I think we are doing well running the ball with the guys we have right now."
