Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons and offensive lineman Kynan Forney have agreed to a four-year contract extension.
Forney is expected receive almost $3.6 million up front and a base salary of about $9 million from 2005-08.
"It's part of our plan to keep the core of our football team together and Kynan Forney is a young player who will continue to get better under the coaching of (assistant head coach/offensive line) Alex Gibbs," team president and general manager Rich McKay said. "It's always good when you can extend the contract of one of your own and that's what we did today."
The 25-year-old starting right guard was Atlanta's seventh-round pick in 2001 out of Hawaii.
