Englewood, CO (Sports Network) - Denver Broncos fullback Mike Anderson is expected to miss the entire 2004 season because of a severe groin tear.
Anderson suffered the injury late in Friday's 31-17 exhibition win against the Houston Texans while protecting a punt attempt. Surgery for the injury is an option, but that decision has not been finalized. Anderson is expected to be placed on injured reserve.
A fifth-year pro, Anderson has moved to the fullback position in recent years after breaking into the league as a running back. Last year he had 257 yards on 70 carries with three touchdowns in 12 games. He also had two receiving touchdowns.
Anderson had the best season of his career during his rookie campaign of 2000, when he ran for a career-best 1,487 yards and 15 touchdowns.
