Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - San Francisco 49ers safety Tony Parrish could miss the season-opener on September 12 against Atlanta because of a calf injury.

Parrish underwent an MRI exam, which revealed a torn calf muscle. He will miss at least the final two pre-season games.

The 49ers are unsure when the injury occurred, but Parrish had been bothered by a sore calf and may have aggravated the problem during this past weekend's pre-season game against Chicago.

Parrish tied for the NFL lead with nine interceptions last season.
