Levens headed back to the Eagles?

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Dorsey Levens has found employment for the 2004 season, as the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with the veteran running back.

According to various reports, Levens, who played for the Eagles in 2002, will fill the void left by running back Correll Buckhalter. Buckhalter suffered a torn patella tendon in his right knee in a non-contact play against Baltimore on Friday night and is done for the year.

Buckhalter and Brian Westbrook were expected to carry the load for Philadelphia in 2004 after veteran back Duce Staley departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason.

That's where Levens comes in. The 34 year-old is very familiar with the offense, having played for head coach Andy Reid two years ago in Philadelphia, as well as in Green Bay. Reid is a former Packers' quarterback coach.

He earned a Pro Bowl spot in 1997 with the Packers and was a member of Green Bay's Super Bowl title team in 1996.

Levens played eight seasons in Green Bay before joining the Eagles after Buckhalter went down with a left knee tear in the team's mini-camp in 2002. He played in all 16 games for Philly that year and posted 411 yards and one TD on 75 carries.

Levens signed with the New York Giants as a free agent last season and saw limited action in the Big Apple. He recorded just 197 yards and three touchdowns on 68 touches.

For his career, the Georgia Tech product has 4,545 yards and 32 scores. He also has 17 TDs receiving.
