Florida Marlins Team Report - August 9
(Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins had a three-game winning streak halted with Sunday's 2-0 setback to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Chris Capuano tossed six shutout innings to help Milwaukee avoid the three- game sweep at Pro Player Stadium.
Miguel Cabrera posted two of the seven hits for the Marlins.
The only two runs came in the Milwaukee fourth. Craig Counsell led off with a triple and came home when Bill Hall followed with a single to right. Two outs later, Hall stole second and crossed the plate on a base hit by Brady Clark.
Dontrelle Willis (8-8) suffered the defeat after surrendering two runs on seven hits and two walks in 7 1/3 frames. Willis struck out a career-high 10 in the losing effort.
The game marked the first in eight tries that Milwaukee won in South Florida.
The Marlins open a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday at Pro Player Stadium.
