Dolphins Play Host To Web Weekend

(miamidolphins.com) - The Miami Dolphins played host to 14 Dolphins fan sites throughout the country and The Bahamas as part of the club's first annual Miami Dolphins Web Weekend during the weekend of August 20-21.

The weekend will be an "annual event when we bring all our web brothers in," said team President Eddie Jones.

The Web Weekend kicked off on Friday, August 20, as the group watched the team's final walk-thru prior to the game against the Redskins and were led on a tour of the team's Training Facility, including the locker room, meeting rooms and weight room. Following practice, the participants were treated to an autograph session with members of the team and were treated to a bar-b-que lunch. The group then assembled in the lobby of the team's Training Facility were they were they could pose with the team's Super Bowl trophies.

Following the photo opportunity, the participants were treated to a question and answer session with members of the Dolphins staff and players. In a session that lasted just under two hours, the group had the opportunity to meet Head Coach Dave Wannstedt, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Bryan Wiedmeier, Director of Pro Personnel George Paton, center Seth McKinney and Greg Solomon of NFL.com.

Also at the meeting, the group participated in a raffle for autographed footballs and other Dolphins memorabilia. In the weeks leading up to the event, the group participated in voting for the "Webbie" Awards for the best fans sites. The 2004 winners were:

Phins.com - Best Overall Fan Site
Dolfansonline.com - Best Special Features
Phinfever.com - Best Message Boards
Phinatics.com - Best Site Design
Thefinforum - Best Site Content

The winning sites received a trophy from the team.

Following the meeting, the group moved on to Pro Player Stadium for a private tour of the field, locker room and press box.

On Saturday, August 21, the group was treated to a pregame tailgate party in SportsTown where they participated in an autograph session with dozens of members of the team's alumni. The group was then escorted to the sidelines where they had an up close look at pregame warm-ups. During the game, the web weekend participants were seated in the stadium's Hall of Champions suite on the club level.
