Broncos' Bell undergoes finger surgery

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Denver Broncos running back Tatum Bell had surgery on Sunday to repair a finger he broke in training camp.

Bell, who was injured in a drill on Saturday, had two pins inserted into his right middle finger to stabilize the fracture.

Bell, a first-year player out of Oklahoma State, has a chance to win the starting position after Clinton Portis was traded to Washington in the offseason.

The Broncos are not sure how much time Bell will miss.

A three-year starter at Oklahoma State, Bell rushed 634 times for 3,409 yards and 34 touchdowns in 41 career games (29 starts). He added 258 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 36 receptions. Bell's 3,409 rushing yards rank sixth in school history, and the 216 points he scored during his career ranks seventh on the school’s career list.
