49ers' Rattay not 100 percent

Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Tim Rattay is hampered with a strained right forearm and will remain sidelined indefinitely.

According to Monday's edition of the Contra Costa Times, Rattay has been kept out of practice for the past two weeks because of the injury and is expected to miss his scheduled debut Saturday versus the Chicago Bears.

Rattay, who underwent surgery this offseason to repair a torn left groin muscle, could return to practice this week. According to head coach Dennis Erickson, his 27-year-old signal caller will be involved in the huddle and in the run game but won't throw.

The Louisiana Tech product suffered the groin injury while rolling out for a passing drill during the club's first day of spring mini-camp.

In his three-year career, Rattay has thrown for 1,105 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. Last year he had a 96.6 QB rating, throwing for 856 yards, seven touchdowns and two picks.
